Nice price, because Celica coupe is best Celica.
Fuck the liftback.
Also, it’s a great excuse to either swap in an 18R-G for JDM tyteness or build a 20R/22R hybrid for maximum proto-US import tuner throwback.

Assuming the body/frame are sound, seems NP to me, a non-Toyota-buff.

Or in my case if I owned it: change the oil, repeat.
Would love to experience a 20/22R hybrid someday

The 20R/22R hybrid engine is the most significant yet least celebrated engine in the history of car culture. The moment when an unknown guy in SoCal figured out you can make a bunch of power if you put the high-comp 20R head on the long-stroke 22R is the birth of the import tuning scene in the US. It’s incredibly significant, yet it’s rarely acknowledged or even discussed.

I’ve read a few build threads about it on the 4x4 forums. Also there’s the Video of the guy in Cali who fully restored his 70-something Celica and put in a hybrid.
Meanwhile I’m still rocking the 20R in my pickup.

It’s a really amazing engine, from a mechanical and historical standpoint. It’s every bit as big of a deal as when returning WW2 vets put modern V8s in a Model A, but it’s widely ignored.

NP! Those are complete unobtanium around here.
